We had a blast running our hands-free AR dance experience at the AWE Playground at the Augmented World Expo USA 2018 in Santa Clara. We called it “The World’s First Dance Lesson in Augmented Reality”. Bee herself hand-made the huge theatrical sign hanging above the entrance, at the end of the red carpet.
We had two rooms for guests to go through. The first was a private room that mimicked a living room, complete with a couch, plant and lamp. There, the guest put on the Aryzon AR headset and learned a basic salsa step from full-size holograms of dance instructors. After the 4-minute lesson, the guest was challenged to move on to the next room and ask someone to dance. The second room was an actual dance floor, with disco lights, speakers, and our team of experienced salsa dancers.
Here is footage of the event:
It was amazing to witness people who thought they had two left feet find the courage to ask someone to dance. We had a line throughout the two-day expo! We are honored to have had the opportunity to help so many people get started with dance. We can’t wait to make the same classes available to everyone at home!
